Out of Tune

The third act is definitely my favorite so far. I love Bianca, her quick wit, and her kind personality, but I also hate how all her suitors don't even respect you. I think that the biggest difference between act 2 and act 3 is how it makes the audience feel. Personally I'm forever conflicted about Katherine. I feel awful for Katherine. Maybe that's because of her coming in second to her sister and her ways feeling like so much less than a human and I find a piece in myself that relates to that. Maybe it's because how do you not feel bad for a girl in her situation. On the other hand, I wish that she could be kinder and sometimes she crosses the line. For example, When she broke the lute over his head, dear lord that's horrible. I think that the difference is that in the second act my I'm very conflicted where as in the third my emotions are clear.

So why is it so easy for the audience to recognize their feelings in the third act, scene 1? Well, to start the scene takes place with Bianca learning Latin translations with Lucentio. for she has sent Hortensio to go tune his instrument. Hortensio tries to join the conversation again only to be sent away once more. His instrument could not possibly be even slightly out of tune, despite Bianca's claims. This is done so that the audience roots for Lucentio instead of Hortensio. When Hortensio finally get to teach Bianca, she's called out to prepare for her sister's wedding which will come the following day.
